Have some questions?
I get asked quite often about what it’s like being a working artist and how I got to be where I am. Take a look at some of my most asked questions and see if they can help.
-
Unfortunately no. I am not taking on any book projects outside of what goes through my agent.
-
The biggest thing you need to accomplish before searching out an agent is to hone your skills. Once you have a solid portfolio, you are ready to reach out to agents.
I sent out quite a few query letters after attending an SCBWI conference and attended a couple agent workshops. I found my agent, Lynnette, by following the instructions she had laid out in her query box. She connected with my work, we chatted a bit and we both felt it was a good match!

Yes! I took classes all through high school and then went through an illustration program at California State University, Long Beach. I continue to take online courses and never want to stop learning!
-
I use both traditional and digital mediums. Procreate and Photoshop are my heavy hitters! I also work in my sketchbooks and love to experiment with gouache and watercolor.
-
Never stop making art! Get yourself out there and connect with other people in the creative space. Remember that everyone has an origin story and we all simply have to START!
It’s also super important to never stop learning. That’s how you get better. I have taken multiple illustration classes and gone through several additional programs to keep working on my skills.

At this time I do not have a storefront, but do occasionally attend markets and expos.

At this time I am not offering commissions. Feel free to check back or follow me on social media for the most up to date info.

I’m fairly active on social media, mostly on Instagram. You can check out the social links at the bottom of this page for an easy click!

Honestly? I applied! I heard the Sketch Program at the Disneyland Resort was going to be hiring, so I sent in an application right away. From there, I have always advocated for myself and strive to go above and beyond. When you care about the work you do, it shows!
-
Unfortunately, I cannot. Due to my position with Disney Animation, I am unable to do any sort of portfolio or artwork review.

All artists are so grateful for support! One of the biggest things you can do for me or any other artist, is to show up where they are. Social Media is free and when you like, or subscribe, or follow, or share… all of that boosts our work! We never know who’s eyes are watching and every little bit helps our reach.
Signing up for a newsletter is also a great way to show support and keep connected.
If you want more of a hands on approach, I do have a Patreon page at www.patreon.com/anniemcbeth where I show a little bit of my processes, some behind the scenes, and little extra digital goodies each month.
